In today’s digital world, data is super important — it’s everywhere! Whether you’re shopping online or scrolling through social media, your actions generate data. And guess what? Politics is no different! Political parties use data to understand what voters like and don’t like. They use this info to customize messages and reach people more effectively. But there’s a catch: while data can help improve politics, it also brings up issues like privacy and fairness. So, while data is a powerful tool, we need to use it carefully to make sure everyone’s voices are heard and respected.

I’m not here to discuss politics. Instead, I want to focus on how political parties utilize data as a tool. To manipulate/influence the voters to get the polling towards specific parties/leaders

Last decade, most of the world faced elections are crucially played on top of data statistics. Political parties utilize various components of digital experience to engage with voters, shape public opinion, and mobilize support. Here’s how they leverage these elements:

  1. Utilize data from platforms like Google Ads or Meta advertisements to gather social media insights through advertisements.
  2. Finding the local issues through surveys. Address local issues specific to constituencies to attract public attention and gain support.
  3. Some parties offer mobile apps to provide supporters with real-time updates, volunteer opportunities, and interactive tools for canvassing or voter registration. Political parties use those apps to collect the people informations.
  4. Promise solutions for the identified local problems through collected data from digital platforms(social behavioral data of random citizens, their voice data from different social media platforms, frequently debates topics specific to region or locality), portraying politicians as influencers to leave a positive impression on the public.
